About this product

Ipe Woods USA Hardwood Deck Tiles provide a modular, high-durability surfacing solution designed to transform flat, hard surfaces like concrete or rooftops into luxury outdoor living spaces. These tiles are engineered for contractors and homeowners who require the performance and Class A fire rating of Ipe hardwood in a format that bypasses traditional joist-and-plank construction. By utilizing a pre-assembled slat design, they solve the problem of achieving a high-end wood finish in areas with low-clearance or weight-bearing restrictions.

Fabricated from genuine Ipe (Handroanthus spp.), offering natural resistance to rot, termites, and fungal decay.
Pre-assembled with stainless steel screws from the underside to ensure a clean, fastener-free top surface.
Modular 24-inch dimensions facilitate rapid installation and easy access to underlying drainage or utilities.
Naturally dense material meets Class A fire resistance standards without additional chemical treatments.
Smooth-sanded finish highlights the unique grain and deep brown tones characteristic of premium Ipe hardwood.

Best used for

  • 1Rooftop deck installations on commercial or residential buildings where traditional sleepers and joists are not feasible due to height or weight limits.
  • 2Resurfacing existing cracked or weathered concrete patios and balconies to create a uniform look that matches Ipe or Cumaru siding and fencing.
  • 3Creating level boardwalks or walkways in luxury hospitality settings that require the high-traffic durability of tropical hardwoods.
  • 4Providing a removable and modular flooring solution for seasonal outdoor dining areas or pop-up commercial plazas.

Pro tips for dense hardwoods

  • Always allow the tiles to acclimate to your local environment for at least 48 to 72 hours in a shaded area prior to installation.
  • Any cuts made to the Ipe slats during fitting must be treated immediately with a wax-based end sealer, such as Anchorseal, to prevent end-checking.
  • For maintenance, apply a UV-inhibiting hardwood oil annually to preserve the rich color; otherwise, the tiles will naturally weather to a silver-grey patina over time.
  • When installing on pedestals, ensure the corners of four tiles meet precisely over the pedestal head to maintain structural stability and level drainage.

How to Install Hardwood Deck Tiles

1

Prepare the Surface

Ensure the base surface (concrete, existing deck, or rooftop membrane) is flat, clean, and has adequate drainage. Minor imperfections are fine; standing water is not.

2

Snap Tiles Together

Interlocking tabs on the underside of each tile click into the adjacent tile. No tools, screws, or adhesive required. Work from one corner outward in a grid pattern.

3

Cut Border Tiles

Measure the perimeter and cut tiles to fit using a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade. Leave a 1/4″ gap at walls or fixed objects to allow for thermal expansion.

4

Maintain as Needed

Sweep regularly and oil annually to maintain color. Tiles can be unsnapped and removed individually for cleaning underneath or replacement.

Pro Tip from Our Deck Specialists

For rooftop installations, check your building's weight load capacity first. Hardwood tiles over a pedestal system typically weigh 8-12 lbs per square foot when wet.
