About this product
This bulk pack of smooth Massaranduba hardwood plugs is designed to conceal face-screws in tropical hardwood decking, siding, and outdoor structures. It provides a seamless, fastener-free aesthetic by filling countersunk holes with the same high-density species as the timber boards. This product is specifically intended for large-scale professional installations where a perfect material match and a clean architectural finish are required.

Pro tips for dense hardwoods
- Align the grain of the plug with the grain of the deck board before tapping it in to make the fastener location nearly invisible after sanding.
- Use a high-quality waterproof wood glue, such as Titebond III, sparingly on the side of the plug to ensure a permanent bond within the dense hardwood fiber.
- Allow the glue to dry completely before using a flush-cut saw or belt sander to level the plugs with the board surface.
- Apply a UV-inhibiting hardwood oil finish to the plugs immediately after sanding to prevent localized checking and to match the board's hydrated color.

Why Choose Plugs & Plug Kits?
How to Plug a Hardwood Deck
Countersink the Screw
Use a 3/8″ countersink bit to create a flat-bottomed hole roughly 1/4″ deep. The screw sits at the bottom; the plug fills the remaining space.
Apply Exterior Adhesive
Put a small bead of waterproof polyurethane glue (included in kits) into the hole. Too much glue squeezes out and creates a mess; too little and the plug loosens over time.
Seat the Plug
Tap the plug in with a rubber mallet or wood block until it seats against the glue. Ribbed plugs self-center and grip irregular holes; smooth plugs work best in precision-drilled holes.
Flush-Cut After Curing
Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to cure fully, then trim the plug flush with a sharp chisel or oscillating multi-tool. Sand lightly and apply finish.
Pro Tip from Our Deck Specialists
Order plugs cut from the same species AND the same board lot as your decking for the closest color and grain match. Plugs from a different harvest can look noticeably different.
