About this product

The DeckWise Extreme Plug Ribbed Tigerwood is a precision-cut hardwood plug designed to conceal face-screwed fasteners in Tigerwood decking, siding, and outdoor structures. It solves the aesthetic problem of visible screw heads by providing a seamless, flush finish that matches the specific color and grain of Tigerwood boards. This 1750-count bulk pack is specifically intended for professional contractors and large-scale residential or commercial projects requiring high-volume fastener concealment.

Manufactured from genuine, kiln-dried Tigerwood for an exact species and color match.
Ribbed side design increases surface area for superior glue adhesion and a secure friction fit.
Face-grain orientation ensures the plug blends naturally with the board surface once sanded and oiled.
Bulk 1750-count quantity provides coverage for approximately 450 to 500 square feet of decking based on standard joist spacing.

Best used for

  • 1Concealing face-screws on the perimeter and stair treads of a Tigerwood hardwood deck where hidden fasteners are not applicable.
  • 2Installing Tigerwood rainscreen siding or cladding to achieve a clean, fastener-free architectural appearance.
  • 3Securing Tigerwood boards on high-traffic commercial boardwalks or public piers where exposed screw heads could present a safety or maintenance issue.
  • 4Building custom Tigerwood site furnishings, such as benches or planters, where a high-end furniture-grade finish is required.

Pro tips for dense hardwoods

  • Use a dedicated 3/8 inch countersink bit with a stop collar to ensure every hole is drilled to a consistent depth, preventing the plug from bottoming out or sitting too low.
  • Always apply a small drop of waterproof wood glue, such as Titebond III, to the ribbed sides of the plug before tapping it into the pre-drilled hole for a permanent bond.
  • Align the grain of the Tigerwood plug with the grain of the deck board before installation to make the fastener location nearly invisible after the final sanding.
  • Wait for the glue to fully cure before using a flush-cut saw or sharp chisel to remove the excess plug material to prevent 'tear-out' on the hardwood surface.

How to Plug a Hardwood Deck

1

Countersink the Screw

Use a 3/8″ countersink bit to create a flat-bottomed hole roughly 1/4″ deep. The screw sits at the bottom; the plug fills the remaining space.

2

Apply Exterior Adhesive

Put a small bead of waterproof polyurethane glue (included in kits) into the hole. Too much glue squeezes out and creates a mess; too little and the plug loosens over time.

3

Seat the Plug

Tap the plug in with a rubber mallet or wood block until it seats against the glue. Ribbed plugs self-center and grip irregular holes; smooth plugs work best in precision-drilled holes.

4

Flush-Cut After Curing

Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to cure fully, then trim the plug flush with a sharp chisel or oscillating multi-tool. Sand lightly and apply finish.

Pro Tip from Our Deck Specialists

Order plugs cut from the same species AND the same board lot as your decking for the closest color and grain match. Plugs from a different harvest can look noticeably different.
