About this product
The DeckWise Extreme Plug Ribbed in Garapa is a precision-cut wood plug designed to conceal face-screws in tropical hardwood decking and siding. It features a unique ribbed side profile that creates a high-friction mechanical fit, solving the problem of plugs popping out due to wood expansion and contraction. This 350-count pack is intended for contractors and DIYers seeking a seamless, fastener-free aesthetic on Garapa installations.

Pro tips for dense hardwoods
- Always align the grain of the plug with the grain of the deck board before setting it to make the fastener nearly invisible.
- Apply a small drop of exterior-grade waterproof glue to the side of the plug rather than the bottom of the hole to avoid hydraulic backsplash.
- Use a sharp chisel or a flush-cut saw to remove the excess plug height, then sand lightly to ensure a perfectly level surface with the Garapa board.
- Apply a UV-inhibiting hardwood finish immediately after installation to ensure the plugs and boards age uniformly under sun exposure.

Why Choose Plugs & Plug Kits?
How to Plug a Hardwood Deck
Countersink the Screw
Use a 3/8″ countersink bit to create a flat-bottomed hole roughly 1/4″ deep. The screw sits at the bottom; the plug fills the remaining space.
Apply Exterior Adhesive
Put a small bead of waterproof polyurethane glue (included in kits) into the hole. Too much glue squeezes out and creates a mess; too little and the plug loosens over time.
Seat the Plug
Tap the plug in with a rubber mallet or wood block until it seats against the glue. Ribbed plugs self-center and grip irregular holes; smooth plugs work best in precision-drilled holes.
Flush-Cut After Curing
Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to cure fully, then trim the plug flush with a sharp chisel or oscillating multi-tool. Sand lightly and apply finish.
Pro Tip from Our Deck Specialists
Order plugs cut from the same species AND the same board lot as your decking for the closest color and grain match. Plugs from a different harvest can look noticeably different.
