About this product
The DeckWise Extreme Plug Ribbed Garapa kit is a professional-grade solution for concealing face-screwed fasteners in Garapa hardwood decking. These plugs feature a unique ribbed design that increases surface area for glue adhesion, ensuring they remain securely seated despite the natural expansion and contraction of dense tropical timber. This 1050-count bulk pack is specifically designed for high-volume applications where a fastener-free aesthetic is required on stairs, perimeter boards, or complete face-fastened installs.

Pro tips for dense hardwoods
- Always use a dedicated 3/8-inch countersink bit, such as a Smart-Bit, to ensure the depth and diameter perfectly accommodate the plug.
- Align the grain of the Garapa plug with the grain of the decking board before tapping it in to make the plug nearly invisible after finishing.
- Use a high-quality waterproof exterior wood glue on the ribs; the ribbed design is specifically engineered to trap the glue for a permanent bond.
- Allow the glue to fully dry before using a flush-cut saw or orbital sander to level the plug with the deck surface to prevent gumming or shifting.

Why Choose Plugs & Plug Kits?
How to Plug a Hardwood Deck
Countersink the Screw
Use a 3/8″ countersink bit to create a flat-bottomed hole roughly 1/4″ deep. The screw sits at the bottom; the plug fills the remaining space.
Apply Exterior Adhesive
Put a small bead of waterproof polyurethane glue (included in kits) into the hole. Too much glue squeezes out and creates a mess; too little and the plug loosens over time.
Seat the Plug
Tap the plug in with a rubber mallet or wood block until it seats against the glue. Ribbed plugs self-center and grip irregular holes; smooth plugs work best in precision-drilled holes.
Flush-Cut After Curing
Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to cure fully, then trim the plug flush with a sharp chisel or oscillating multi-tool. Sand lightly and apply finish.
Pro Tip from Our Deck Specialists
Order plugs cut from the same species AND the same board lot as your decking for the closest color and grain match. Plugs from a different harvest can look noticeably different.
