PermaChink Lifeline Advance - Five Gallon
Lifeline Advance is a clear topcoat for log homes that functions like the clear-coat on an automobile—protecting the color finish underneath while extending the overall lifespan of your finish system. It adds depth and visual highlights to exterior log walls, and its balanced permeability keeps the film breathable while repelling liquid water. Makes exterior walls significantly easier to keep clean. Lifeline Advance is the second component in the Perma-Chink exterior wall finish system and comes with a limited warranty when used in conjunction with Lifeline Ultra-2 and Lifeline Accents.

Best used for
- 1Protective top-coating for Ipe or Cumaru rainscreen siding to enhance depth and protect against UV fading.
- 2Final finish layer for Tigerwood or Garapa vertical fencing to prevent dirt accumulation and simplify cleaning.
- 3Maintenance coat for Massaranduba or Red Balau exterior trim and soffits to extend the life of the primary color stain.
- 4Vertical architectural cladding where a film-forming, breathable barrier is required to manage moisture in dense hardwoods.
Pro tips for dense hardwoods
- Strictly for vertical surfaces; do not apply Lifeline Advance to walking surfaces like decks, docks, or boardwalks as the film-forming nature can become slippery and peel under foot traffic.
- Always back-brush the product immediately after spraying to ensure the finish is worked into the wood grain and to prevent lap marks or runs.
- Avoid application in late afternoon or during high humidity to prevent 'blushing'—a cloudy appearance caused by moisture getting trapped in the film before it dries.
- Never use steel wool for surface preparation on Ipe or other hardwoods before applying this water-based finish, as any remaining fragments will cause permanent rust spots under the coating.
